Fortunately, I was able to get a air ticket, so I went to Hong Kong as a transit airport, first.

I arrived at Hong Kong airport at late night. Even though the time of a final train from downtown to airport is 10pm, I decided to go there as short stay. And I was not good on Hong Kong geography, so I could not find Kowloon (九龍) as a central district...

Since there is not enough time, I gave up to find the town and returned to the airport.

Next flight is from Hong Kong to Urumqi via Shanghai at tomorrow morning. So I had to spend a time at the airport until then. I waited with getting lying down at bench near boarding gate.

Urumqi (乌鲁木齐)

Finally, I could arrived at Urumqi airport. Here is central of Eurasia Continent! There is wonderful Uighur character on the sign.

There doesn't seem a map of Urmqi airport on the web, so I hope this helps for travelers who are planning a trip of Urumqi. The bus station for downtown exists in front of exit of the airport terminal 2.

First of all, I went to Urumqi station in order to purchase a ticket for Kashgar. Kashgar is a city located on most west side of China. It takes 26 hours by a train, in spite of express! The station was really crowded, because itwas May Day holidayseason. So, I was not able to buy a ticket of sleeping car, but I could get a ticket for Kashgar.

And next, I seeked a hotel for a night at Urumqi, and got it. The name is Xinjiang Hotel.Size of the building was big, but the room was not gorgeous, it's very simple! However the room seemed enough for me, and more than anything, cheap! About $10!

There are many mosques in Uighur, since here is a country of Muslim.

Unexpectedly, Urumqi is big civilized city!

I felt relieved that the seat is not so stiff. My seat is window side in order to see the outside. So many passengers got in the train, after this.

Outside of window is Taklamakan Desert.

Turpan station. Here is famous place for sightseeing, but I could not visit here due to time limitation. I hope I stop over Turpan next time. Raisin is a special product of this district.

Many window power plants in the desert. Oil plant also exists in the central part of Taklamakan Desert.

I met a Uighur family in the train.

Really cute baby :D. She is Ali.

The father of the family bought me a cup ramen! When I visit Asian countries, local people often treat me lunch, even if I decline! Thanks!

In front of a department store in Uighur. Uighur ethnic costume is very colorful, because landscape here is contrastively mono color desert. On the other hand, in Japan, the landscape is colorful, since there are four seasons. Therefore, simple coloration is preferred, as " Wabi-Sabi".

I was walking around central part of Kashgar city. Kashgar city was starting redevelopment. So, many houses were teared down and there were many hole around streets for laying a cable of Internet.

The faces of the man and his son are a little bit similar, aren't !?

There are huge gap between boys and girls! I suggested them to come close more, but they didn't. They must be shy!

I hope the gap will be filled one day :D

I got to Hotan district at 5:00am. But actually, there is 2 hours time lag between Beijing and Uighur area. Further more, just 1 timezone is adopted officially as Beijing time in China. Thus, The official time is 5:00am, but substantive local time is 3:00am!!!

Completely dark there, and no stores or hotels etc were not opend...

I wondered for seeking a hotel for about 30 minutes, and finally I found a large hotel. But no light was turned on inside of the hotel. I was make up my mind and entered to the hotel.

Two guardmans who sleeped on sofas were there. I asked one of them whether there is a vacant room or not. But he just pointed with his finger toward a front desk without any people.

I called a staff. The staff was waking up with rubbing her drowsy eyes and came to the front desk. I asked her whether there is a vacant room again, but negative. And she returned to her bed immediately...

I decided to stay on a table of the hotel lobby until dawn... Anyway, I was relieved that the location was found which I can stay.

The hotel in a daytime.

Finally, I asked about a vacant room in the morning once more, I could make a reservation without problem...
